The Virus That is Infecting America
We are losing our "American Spirit".
Take a look at the subject of bullying. Just this week, Oprah did an entire show around the subject with parents whose children killed themselves as guests.
She also had "experts" in counseling children when it comes to bullying as well as school administrators and they all were saying the same things.
What none of them focused on was the main thing that had gone wrong in the situations of these children…
Everyone involved – the children and the parents – gave their power away to someone or something else.
The children rightfully went to their parents. Their parents went to the teachers and counselors. Those people turned to the school system. Each and every person "passed the buck" up the chain, searching for the answer to stop the bullying.
What is sad is that this is happening all across America right now – and NOT just when it comes to bullying.
Look at what is going on in the economy. Entire industries are going out of business. People are losing their jobs, their homes. One day, life is hunky-dory and the next…it is turned upside down.
What are most people doing? What is our own government doing?
Most people are turning everywhere else – except to themselves – for the answer as to what to do.
The government? They have decided to pull an Underdog and "Come to the Rescue". The problem with that is the U.S. Government couldn't run a bake sale in Toledo for a profit – and they are going to fix all this?
This is un-American. It goes against the principles and the spirit of our founding fathers.
Think about it: the founding fathers were told by a bully – The King of England – what they could and couldn't do when it came to religion.
Rather than cry about it, worry about, rally against how unfair it was or turn to someone else to stick up for them, they decided to make their own decisions about what they would and wouldn't do.
The rest – as they say – is history.
Self reliance, self respect, belief in the power of the individual is what made this country great.
When it comes to bullying, those principles will serve you well. Having the guts, the resolve, the desire to want to face your fears, face your bullies, face your challenges, look them in the eye and say, "Bring it on" can make all the difference in the world.
Don't look for others to come bail you out. Don't expect anyone to do anything for you. Don't look for others to look out for your best interest.
That is YOUR responsibility – and it is what made this country great.
Take Back Your Power,
