Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence Gets Last Laugh on Bullies
In an article from the Detroit Free Press, Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence reportedly told the British newspaper, The Sun, that she was bullied so much as a child, she was forced to switch elementary schools.
Accordng to Lawrence, the bullying got a little better in middle school, but she still remembers one incident that stands out; she was given invitations to a party to hand out to others – but she was not invited to the party. How did she handle that instance? In her own words, "But that was fine; I just hocked a loogie on them and threw them in the trash can."
Lawrence goes on to share a mental philosophy that many of us could take note on when dealing with bullies in our lives: "Don't worry about the bitches – that could be a good motto, because you come across people like that throughout your life."
Miss Lawrence makes a strong point, and one that I make in the book, "Bullies Suck" and in the Ultimate Bullying Solution Society newsletter; she says, "…because you come across people like that throughout your life." She acknowledges and accepts that there are always going to be bullies, mean people, critics – whatever you want to call them. The key is to NOT give those people power over your emotions, your actions and most importantly, your self image or self confidence.
In her case, sometimes success is the best revenge.
